If I counted how many times in the past week I have heard someone use the word “ironic” incorrectly, I would have run out of fingers and toes days ago. Please – the only thing ironic about what you are saying is that you don’t actually know what ironic means. If you think it’s what Alanis Morrisette sang about, please stop using the word. Like you, the only thing in the song that’s actually ironic is the fact that none of those things are ironic – just unfortunate. And unfortunate is using words incorrectly.
